L.A. City Council Has Just Approved New Renter Protections

There is some good new for LA renters! The Los Angeles City Council took some action today against landlords who enforce large rent increases on their tenants by approving renter protections.

The renter protections include a stipulation where "landlords must pay relocation fees for tenants if they raise rents by 10% or 5% plus inflation." This means that "tenants will get three months of rent and $1,411 in moving costs." The new renter protections were approved with urgency but they won't go into effect immediately due to dissenting votes by John Lee and Traci Park. Click here for more.
