Lycoming County SPCA Pet of the Week - October 9

Dog of the Week: Hector
7 year old male, American Pit Bull/Terrier mix

Meet Hector, a big tan clown who loves nothing more than a good rub down and to show off his tricks. He is very smart and like any good clown, he loves to perform! So far, he has learned sit, shake, other paw, down, and roll over.

Hector came to the SPCA last winter after being picked up as a stray by the Williamsport Police. Sadly, no one came to claim him, and he is having a bit of hard time catching the attention of potential adopters due to his "pitbull-like" face and breed designation. But we know that all hearts, regardless of stigma or preconceived notions, deserve and are capable of true love. And so is the case with Hector. He has adorable little perky ears and he has won the hearts of our kennel attendants. He does like to chase small little things and he is a little wary of someone approaching his person, so we recommend that he be placed in a home without small children or other pets.

If you're looking for a goofy meatball to pal around with and watch the sun set together, then give Heroic Hector a try. He is ready for a belly rub and the chance to perform in Kennel 53.

Cat of the Week: Laurel
1 year old female, calico, domestic shorthair

Laurel was anonymously abandoned at the shelter early one morning this past summer. We quickly took her into our care and found that other than being a little scared and dirty, she was in great shape.

Importantly, Laurel has recently been drafted as a Wide Receiver for Team Cats in our Fantasy "Fur"ball event. If she is adopted by Sunday, November 12, Team Cats (vs Team Dogs) wins 5 points! (Fantasy "Fur"ball details can be found here.)

Laurel is young and sweet, and a beautiful calico. And doesn't she just look so excited in her Football uniform? We think she's just the best. You will love her little white paws, her rich, warm eyes, and her happy temperament. She is pretty independent, too. She doesn't need a lot of pets and hugs. She is content simply hanging out and doing her own thing.

Laurel is eagerly awaiting her new forever home, and she'll do whatever it takes to win a shot at it (including getting dressed up and tolerating a photo shoot). If you're looking for a pretty little calico to light up your life, look no farther than Laurel.

She's eager to meet you in Pen 22.
