In an interview with Byrdie, Mandy Moore revealed that her mother and both of her brothers are gay.
“I’ve never really talked about this, but my parents are divorced,” the 32-year-old said. “My mother left my father for a woman. And both of my two brothers are gay.” Still, she added, “My parents loved each other; they did an incredible job raising all of us.”
The beauty also revealed that growing up with her family could have contributed her decision to get married so young. She wanted her “own kind of normalcy.” Moore added, “I learned that that wasn’t going to be the fruitful experience I wanted it to be.”
Moore has been very vocal about her support of the LGBTQ community over the years. In 2009, she even publicly blasted Proposition 8 and called the ban “disheartening.” The star continues to wish everyone can live their truth freely, like what her family has done. “Everyone’s so much happier, richer, and more fulfilled, being their authentic selves,” she said.
