Ariana Grande is using her "Sweetener World Tour" to give back to Planned Parenthood.
According to PEOPLE, the "Breathin" singer has pledged to donate the proceeds of last week's show in Atlanta (June 8) to the organization in light of anti-abortion laws impacting southern states like Georgia. Per the publication, Grande's contribution is said to be approximately $250,000.
"Ariana Grandeās generous donation comes at a critical time ā in Georgia and across the country, anti-womenās health politicians are trying to ban all safe, legal abortion," Planned Parenthood Action Fund President Dr. Leana Wen said in a statement to PEOPLE. āThis is not what the American people want, nor is it something theyāll stand for."
āThanks to inspiring support like hers, Planned Parenthood can continue to fight back ā in the courts, in Congress, in state houses, and in the streets ā against these dangerous attacks on peopleās health and lives," Wen continued.Ā "We are so grateful to Ariana for her longstanding commitment to supporting womenās rights and standing with Planned Parenthood to defend access to reproductive health care. We wonāt stop fighting ā no matter what.ā
This isn't the first time Grande has stood up for causes that are important to her.
The donation comes days after the star hit back at a man who provoked passerby with an anti-LGBTQ stand outside one of her recent concerts. "Man... saddened but not surprised by this one bit. iām so sorry any of my fans had to encounter this. we will do our best to ensure this doesnāt happen again," Grande wrote in an apologetic tweet.
Aside from abortion services, Planned Parenthood also offers birth control, HIV services, men's health, LGBTQ and general health care services. Learn more here.
