Lizzo Inks Deal With Amazon Studios: 'Let The Empire Begin'

Lizzo is making moves into the world of television.

On Thursday (August 6), it was announced during Amazon's Television Critics Association summer press tour that the chart-topper, 32, will develop television projects to exclusively debut on Amazon Prime Video. "I'm so excited to partner with the amazing team at Amazon," the star said in a virtual appearance during the conference. "Thank you to Jen Salke and the rest of the team for making this dream come true. I can’t wait to get started and share my vision with the world."

Meanwhile, Salke, head of Amazon Studios, echoed the excitement, saying, "Lizzo is one of the most exciting, creative, joyful artists in the industry, and it is such a pleasure to announce this new deal with her. She has such a unique perspective and we’re so excited to hear her ideas for new content that our Prime Video customers are sure to love."

Previously, the star starred in Hustlers and voiced a character in UglyDolls. However, this marks her first major venture in television. Over on her Instagram Story, Lizzo celebrated the big news with a short but sweet message directed at her fans. "Let the empire begin," she captioned the post.
