Women Who Get Covid Vaccine Should Wait Before Getting a Mammogram

Doctors say women who get the COVID-19 vaccine should wait before getting a mammogram.

Here's why: Research shows that lymph node swelling can be a side effect of the vaccine. That can lead to false positives in a mammogram, because the swollen nodes can be difficult to distinguish from cancer.

Experts suggest waiting 4 to 6 weeks after your final vaccine dose for a mammogram - although you chould consult with your doctor before canceling any appointments.

The American Cancer Society recommends that women ages 45-55 get a mammogram every year, and every two years at 55 and older.
